New Class at The National Art League













I'm very proud and humble to be recently included among the very fine roster of instructors currently teaching at the National Art League. My first introductory class will be this summer and then continue into the regular calender year. Here's the info;

Learn how to create an oil painting from start to finish, with each step broken down into simplified, confidence building steps. Instruction will also include lectures and demonstrations. Whether you are an experienced oil painter or trying oils for the first time, you will learn ways to improve your art. The instructor will explore key concepts such as; the drawing block-in, underpainting, mixing color strings, lighting a setup, and more.


Shawn Sullivan is an award winning professional fine artist and educator with over twenty five years experience. He holds a masters degree in painting and he has studied at the Long Island Academy of Fine Art, and the Grand Central Academy of Art.

Upcoming Workshop

I will be teaching a two hour workshop at Michaels in Massapequa, N.Y.,516-541-0489, sponsored by Grumbacher/Chartpak. The focus will be on using Max water miscible oil paints to paint a small still life using a photo reference following the instructors demo. Materials are not provided but the cost is a very reasonable 27.00. The date is July 16, Saturday, 1-3 p.m..
